Annotate a Book? Tips?

I need to annotate 2 books over the summer for the first time (the jungle, frankenstein) I know basically how, but I need tips on how to do it faster and more efficiently. My teacher wants annotations on almost every page, but I often feel like I have nothing to say or nothing is especially worth talking about. Any suggestions on what to annotate about when a theme or important event isn't mentioned?
