Sometimes a believer develops an intuition about questions that are dangerous to ask. When you consult the official authority, you will get a consistent answer, probably one you've heard before, but you may also get suspicious attention. Consulting an outsider sometimes provides new insight into you faith, but religious leaders don't like the risk.
